Staying Current in Cybersecurity

In the cybersecurity field, staying up to date is essential. In this post, I’ll share a few methods I use.

RSS Readers #

RSS readers like Inoreader and Feedly are useful tools for viewing content from various sources in one platform.

Through your preferred RSS reader, subscribe to industry blogs, cybersecurity news sites, and security researchers. Many in the field maintain personal blogs or contribute to industry platforms.

Some online resources include Bleeping Computer, SANS Internet Storm Center, and if you’re Norwegian, check out the Telenor TSOC Blog.

Follow Researchers #

Twitter is a valuable source of real time information. Creating a private list on Twitter helps me monitor relevant accounts, so I visit the tab occasionally to stay up to date.

I utilize Twitter for various purposes, from following security researchers to staying informed on what is happening in the world. On YouTube I enjoy watching IppSec, a channel worth checking out.

Participate in Communities #

Engaging with cybersecurity communities on platforms like Discord and Twitter offer a space to chat, learn, and hear about experiences from others.

Personally, I like Discord, and there are countless communities to join. Whether you’re into learning with TryHackMe, seeking certifications with OffSec, or bug hunting with HackerOne.
